COVID-19 Update

Please read the following updates to our 2020 event

Location - We are excited to announce that we are moving the hosting location to Postcard Inn (formerly Holiday Isle) with a start and finish location on Bimini Row.  This is perhaps one of the most picturesque start lines in the country as you are surrounded by water on all sides.  Below you will find a link to our exclusive rates to reserve your room at Postcard Inn or one of their sister properties in Islamorada.

Wave Starts - For 2020, there will not be any common start times for any of the events.  We will have waves every 15 minutes over the course of three days and will only allow a maximum of 20 participants per wave.  Each participant (or private group) will have their own exclusive start that is approximately 30-40 seconds separating them from others.  Participants will be allowed to sign up for the wave of their choice on a first come first serve basis.  If you have signed up for multiple races, you will be allowed to sign up for multiple waves (excluding Beach N’ Beer Mile, see below).  Specific information and sign-up instructions will be in a separate email once we have everything properly set up in our system.  We will not re-open registration until all of our current participants are given a fair timeframe to select the wave of their choice.

Bib Pick Up - You will be allowed to pick up your bib 15 minutes prior to your wave. This will be a separate area from the starting corral and will also be controlled to limit the total number of runners allowed within the area.

Course - A map of the course will be available shortly, however, you can expect it to be a similar out and back course as in years past.  All three races (half marathon, 10K and 5K) will likely follow the same course with each of the distances having its own turnaround point.  The start and finish area will be the same for all the races.  PLEASE NOTE: The management of the course will have limited staff due to the nature of the event and it is important for the runners to follow the course markings and be familiar with the course/map.

PPE and Other Safety Measures - We will be taking all necessary measures to ensure we keep a safe environment for everyone involved in our event and that we follow all federal, state and local guidelines.  The following is our current safety plan for our event:

  •  As each participant arrives for their scheduled start time, they will be given a face mask that will be required to enter the barricaded event area.  This must remain on until they depart the event area.

  • Total onsite event space consists of three areas; Registration, Starting Corral and Finish Area.  No more than 20 registered participants will be allowed in each of the areas at one time.

  • Antibacterial soap will be available to all participants at multiple spots within the event area.

  • There will be no traditional water stops along the course.  We ask that participants run with a refillable water bottle (free to all participants at the start).  Water will be available prior to the start as well as available in designated areas on the course and to be managed by our staff.

  •  All volunteers and workers will wear a mask and gloves during their shift.

  • There will be additional masks and gloves available to anyone associated with the event.

  • The entire layout of the event area will be designed to keep a minimum 6' distance separated from volunteers/workers and participants.  Tables, barricades and signs will be appropriated in designated areas to help with this process.

Hotels - We have been provided with exclusive rates for Postcard Inn and its three sister hotels; Pelican Cove, Amara Cay and La Siesta.  All hotels are beautiful and are located oceanfront.  In addition, for booking through our link, you will be given two drink tickets as well as a discount on their daily resort fee.  There is NO better rate anywhere else guaranteed.  Both Postcard Inn and Pelican Cove are onsite for the event.  Amara Cay and La Siesta are just a few miles south in Islamorada.

Please book here to receive the best deal for all hotels!

Beach N' Beer Mile - The Beach N' Beer Mile will take place on Saturday, December 5th from 12pm - 3pm.  This is no longer a race, but a fun walk around Postcard Inn and beyond (but we promise not more than a mile walk!).  It will feature 2-3 locations and will include live music along with the 4 beers and swag that come with your registration.  At the moment, we are holding off allowing new registrations for the Beach N' Beer Mile as we are finalizing details and need to make sure we adhere to all safety regulations.  We will announce the update Beach N' Beer Mile plan once it is finalized and open up registration should our plan allow for it.

Post Race Party - For 2020, we cannot host a post race event that promotes the gathering of lots of people. Once you complete your run, you will be given your medal along with other swag that came with your registration and then asked to exit the finish line area.  However, your registration WILL come with a drink ticket that will be good to use throughout the day at any of the multiple bar locations onsite at Postcard Inn.

Deferrals - We understand this has been a difficult time for everyone and the new plan may not be what you originally signed up for.  We are offering those who wish to push back their registration to 2021 to do so at no charge.  That said, we sincerely hope you can make it down this year as we and the rest of the Florida Keys would love to have you.

Run Virtual - If you cannot make it to the event and choose to run in your community, we will gladly ship out your race goodies at no charge.

More information will be coming out shortly along with a link for you to select the wave of your choice.  We appreciate your patience and support and look forward to seeing you in December!
